The license to kill

This is not about Ian Fleming’s Secret Service agent, Mr. Bond, nor the song by Gladys Knight… This is about feeling empowered!

A year ago I got a new position at ArtRebels within a field that I was experienced but didn’t have many skills. It was a hard but worth-while experience exploring this new area.

A mentor of mine – partner and investor in this company – encouraged me to work even harder by giving me the ‘license to kill’. That was not about killing my colleague nor business partner – but that I had his permission to go!

Having the ‘license to kill’ gave me the feeling that I could ‘kill’ the hindrances and obstacles that I might meet on my way – or at least that nothing should prevent me in reaching my goal.

I really like this expression because it is so strong to me. I try to disseminate this as much a possible – to friends, family and especially my colleagues. It might sound a bit cheesy – but don’t you feel that you can do anything when saying aloud to yourself, that you’ve got the license to kill?

If not, listen to the song and say it once again: “I’ve got the license to kill…”.
